Apologies

For a while, I've been debating with myself, as to whether I should write this or not. I decided against it, so you're only going to get the short version.

The blog has come to a halt. Obviously. It will probably stay that way for a while, until I find some reason to continue.

A lot has happened since my last post. A whole lot. I've got my grades, I went on holiday twice, I've made and lost friends, I've met people I have a connection with. My relationship with my parents has somewhat changed, my father has told me many things, of which the majority have made me realise the difference between what I want and what I need. I've gained a soft spot in my heart for particulars, I've managed to bring myself to attend my final year of sixth form. etc.

All of this, with a few other things, has made me change my mind about university. I'm no going. I'm not even interested in fashion or art design anymore. I don't know what I'm going to do, but for now I'm contemplating missionary. But with the route I'm going it'll probably change.

This blog was something I was 'in love' with, something I wanted to do. I was using it as experience of some sort to aid me in my application process and possible interviews at university.

Since my last post, a lot has happened, as I said, but it's come to the point where I no longer want to continue the blog. I apologise to those of you who read and kept up with me, there are probably none of you. whatever. I'm keeping it as a reminder of what 'has been' I won't delete it, but I won't use it.

I don't know what's going on right now, I don't know what I'm doing and I'm learning the art of patience. Which takes skill. S if at a later time I pop back up, onto the blogosphere, it'll be because I know what I'm doing.

Thank you so much.

For a while, you gave me happiness :)

Much love

L.

Polyvoring

Hey guys, long time no see! :)

- I've been finding it really difficult to find time and space to take outfit pictures. Excuses such as the fact I don't have a decent camera, and the family one is far to complicated and foreign to understand. I'm thinking of investing in a DSLR but finances at the moment are being spent on driving lessons, a car and insurance. So that's really out of the question. There's nowhere around I'd like to use as 'photo space'; apart from outside, which I personally don't particularly like. I'd like a plain white wall, with good natural lighting surrounding it. Which we don't have. But to be completely honest, I can't be bothered, my outfits aren't that interesting, and they're starting to look a bit dated. Due to the fact I have no money, I haven't been shopping in a while.

- I dyed my hair again! Actually I dyed it twice in three days. The box was blonde, but on the side, it showed it would come out light brown on my natural hair colour. I had to re-dye it a bit lighter afterwards because it only showed up on my roots, not my whole head. It still looks lighter on top, but not as bad as before. I'm going to re-dye it before I go back to school, because by then my roots would have come through.

-As I mentioned before, I'm buying a car! WOO! Kinda excited, I had my first lesson yesterday and it went really well. I know buying a car might seem unimportant at the moment, but because I'm trying to pass in as little lessons possible, I need to practice A LOT, so what better way than to buy a car?! Seen as it's too expensive to get insured on my mums car I may as well get my own. I've done a few trips to view cars, majority of, have been a pile of crap. Bar one, it was beautiful! A Ford Ka, luxe version, low mileage not a bump in sight. Then some stupid bidder outbid me on eBay. So now, I'm not allowed to buy a car on eBay, only autotrader. I'm viewing a Silver Ka later today and a Burgundy one tomorrow, so fingers crossed I'll have car by the end of the week!

- I've always has Polyvore, but I forgot about it, and didn't really know how to use it, but today I decided I'd work it out. So I downloaded the clipper thing, so I can upload photos of things from sites that might not register on the site. I also worked out how to put text on it and actually publish it rather than save it as a draft. I used it to create two sets of things I'm lusting after for A/W this year. There's lots of shearling, leather, suede, luxe fabrics, buckles and studs and earthy tones. All in all, I'm quite happy with the outcome, and I'm really starting to LOVE those Suede chunky heels from River Island and the Acorn necklace from asos!

a/w wants
A/W wants

Anyway, enough of what I can't afford!
I'm going to promise you I'll put more effort in with outfit posts and interviews. I have a few lined up, so that's a head start.

Interview 005.

Hey guys :)

I am on fire! These interviews just keep on coming! I hope you're enjoying them? I'd really appreciate feedback, also if anyone has any good questions they'd like to get answered? Send them along too.

Okay, this time, we've got the lovely Daniella from The F Blog. She's a Canadian, living in London, working as a Freelance stylist and blogger. Here's our interview...

How would you describe your style in 5 words?
Eclectic, vintage, black, juxtaposed and free.

What do you mean by juxtaposition?
As in mixing the unexpected; Feminine with masculine, pretty with ugly, etc. I also love doing the same with proportions.

Thats really cool :) What is the most expensive thing you own in your wardrobe?
Hmm, I think my Acne wedges. They cost me an extra $200 to have them shipped to Canada. So shitty!

NO WAY! $200 on shipping costs? Thats nuts! How about your favourite item in your wardrobe?
I think my vintage Ralph Lauren denim cut-offs. I wear them so much I think they might seriously disintegrate soon. Either those or my vintage motorcycle boots.

Do you ever come across days when you just cannot be bothered?
Not really; I like picking out something different and mixing and matching different things everyday. Plus I usually dress pretty laidback on a day to day basis so it's not a big deal really.

That's good I guess! What sort of thing catches your eye when you're out shopping?
At the moment, anything black and sheer. Also stuff with aztec-y prints. A good pair of denim shorts always catches my eye, I'm always looking for a new pair to diy- mainly because I know my favourite ones are going to fall apart soon.
The things that usually catch my eye are pieces that I know no one else will have- which is why I love shopping at markets and when I go travelling, etc.

Is that what your going to be wearing this summer? Sheer? What else...?
Yes lots of sheer as well as the aforementioned denim cut-offs. I've also been loving playsuits. I'm still trying to find the perfect floral one though... Anything easy and comfortable is what I'm leaning towards for the summer. A denim jacket is always good to have too. I have a vintage Levi's one and it's perfect for summer nights.

Lovely! What were you typically wearing 5 years ago?
Haha umm, I'm not really sure. I think I was in my last year of highschool, I went to a catholic school and I had to wear a uniform...

What was the uniform like? Was there anything you could style nicely and make do with?
Oh, no it was awful. A green and white plaid skirt and a white button down top. We lived for dress down days, which we had once a month!

Man! At least you got dress down days! We get none, ever! If something doesn't suit you do you like to style it on others?
Well I definitely style in a certain way. But of course it has to go with the story... As long as it's something I like (not necessarily something I would wear myself) I will use it. But I usually use clothes that are quite my "style." I think it's important as a stylist to be recognizable but not predictable.

Do you ever want to keep pieces for yourself then?!
Yes all the time! It's hard to give them back sometimes haha! It's usually the shoes... I am obsessed!

Ahh the obsession with shoes! I think every girl has that problem! :) Finally what are the five things you are lusting after at the moment?
Ah! Well I've just returned from Stockholm where I fell in love with the two toned "wedge wood" Minimarket shoes (again, a sucker for shoes, especially wedges). I'm also lusting after a pair of black strappy flat sandals from Whyred- I haven't bought any type of sandal in forever and I really need some! I am also hopelessly searching for the perfect pair of flares/bellbottoms (long live the 70's!!!). And for the last 2 things, any piece of jewelry (especially rings) from Pamela Love and a big black hat... I just can't seem to find the right one!

Thank you ever so much Daniella, it's been a pleasure chatting with you and talking fashion. I hope you find that big black hat and your beloved shorts don't disintegrate whilst you're out!

Chictopia/Lookbook

I've got to admit, I've neglected my Chictopia account of late, but the other day I decided to upload my favourite outfit that was scheduled for whilst I was on holiday. I was pleasantly surprised to sign back on today, and find out I'm now on the Style Council and am featured on page 4 of the Style Gallery! When I signed in and saw the amount of comments and chic votes on that one style, I had to double take! I genuinely couldn't believe that was my account.

I also posted it to Lookbook, hype if you like :)

So, the purpose of this post was to thank you, if you use Chictopia and you Chic voted me or commented, I'm utterly grateful. Thank you also to those of you who follow me, if it wasn't for you, I would've given up blogging by now, and that outfit probably wouldn't have come about.

A summer project?

Hey guys :)

I'm officially back and unpacked from Turkey! I've missed you lot terribly, even though I had scheduled posts, I had a million and one ideas floating around my head for posts influenced by Turkish culture and things. I'm very excited to get working on them and share them with you!

Turkey is such a beautiful country, the scenery is incredible, the food is delicious and the people are so friendly and relaxed, not mentioning they're very tolerant for a Muslim country! I was situated in a place called Ichmeler, a small village in a bay, the locals call it The Old Village, or mimi- Marmaris. We were surrounded by beautiful mountains and greenery, the sea was ridiculously blue, compared to the dull grey of the British coast!

I met some really lovely people, most of whom were men, the women stayed out of view a lot of the time, at home, waiting for their husbands to come home from working the Summer seasons. My family and I, went to Turkey with a bad idea about it, and we were pleasently suprised that, in fact, the men are not lecherous and rude, but very welcoming and friendly!

The difference between British culture and Turkish culture is quite dramatic, when we go to restaurants, we may be guaranteed good food and great presentation, but the waitors just rush around trying to do everything perfectly, whereas the Turkish places may not look incredible, but the food is just as great and the customer service is out of this world! When do we ever experience the waitors asking your name, where you come from and how long you're here? Let alone pulling up a chair and having a genuine conversation with you about things that include our culture, education and what we have planned! I left Turkey feeling as though I made friends, even though I spoke to no one around the pool or on the beach apart from the staff! I even came away with names and email addresses, for facebook!

Yes, that is a mudbath... and it stank like rotten eggs

- Anyway, now that I'm back, tanned and have shared with you some of our antics over the past two weeks, I wanted to tell you I've come back with a clear head and lots of ideas. I have a few projects planned for me, and some for you.

My first has only just come about, I saw this image on somebody elses blog, (I can't remember which one for the life of me!) and was instantly inspired by it.

Then I saw this Topshop A/W one, whilst browsing the interwebz, and thought it must be fate!

So my plan is to venture out into the cold (compared to highs of 45degrees, this is Winter) and purchase some black chiffon, and make a floaty maxi dress! Hopefully I can do this before next Wednesday, when I go away again, and then I can get right onto making it when I come back.

Like in the first image, I'd team it with a black body or slip underneath to save my dignity, add some gold chains and my Topshop wedges and I'll be on my way :)

Hope you are all well!

July 10th 1993

I was born this day, 17 years ago :)
Happy Birthday to me!
I am finally allowed to drive, so be aware on the roads guys!

I am so loved, and I am so happy. My wonderful family are amazing to me, putting up with me for 17 years, growing up as a nutcase child, turning into a hormonal, snappy teenager. My friends are amazing, and I'm honoured to be associated with them. My phone keeps beeping with texts and facebook alerts with people wishing be a happy birthday. I love that birthdays are a worldwide recognised thing, and for that one day per year, no one wants to be rude to you.

My beautiful muma got me a years Vogue subscription and as a keepsake, a July 1993 edition of Vogue

It smells so old and dusty, and it's in perfect condition!

I love you all, I really do, you've made me so much more confident in myself, just by following me :)

Interview 004.

FINALLY I've gotten round to editing and posting another interview. Seriously sorry for the delay guys, I apologise!

This lovely lady, is UH-mazing. She has impeccable taste and owns and runs her own vintage store! CHECK IT HERE!

01. What is your most worn and favourite item in your wardrobe?
My YSL turquoise ring. My favourite pieces of clothing are always constantly changing but i've been obsessed with this ring ever since i got it - i can never take it off because it goes with absolutely everything!

02. What is your least worn item in your wardrobe?
The crazy prom dresses i have collected over the years. I've always love the over top, avant garde designs but they're so outrageous i never have anywhere to wear them.

03. What is the most expensive item you own?
My alexander wang diego bucket bag. I decided to spoil myself when i received the news that my business was now a full registered company.

04. Does your mood affect your choice of clothing or purchase?
Oh yes, in every way. My outfits always reflect my mood so you can usually tell how i am feeling that day. Pastels, neutral tones and lace usually mean i'm feeling feminine and carefree. I always have fun with what i'm wearing so no matter what you'll always see a lovely print or mix of colours in my outfit.

05. Does the music/playlist you're currently listening to affect what you wear on a daily basis?
Sometimes. I don't usually have the time to listen to music as i always get distracted with it on when i'm working so the only chance i get is in my car and i'm already dressed by that time!

06. What music do you like? Singers, bands, genres etc?
Florence and the machine, the kooks, white lies, friendly fires, phoenix - i'm very fortunate to be surrounded by all kinds of creative folk so new music is always being played in my house.

07. Who are your style inspirations and why?
I really admire the japanese street style because even though it's crazy and over the top they still look immaculate. They have absolutely no fear in what they wear, there are no rules - just to wear whatever you feel like and that is truly inspirational to me.

08. Do you remember what you were wearing/sporting 5 years ago?
A lot of bad choices! I was still in high school and would wear low cut tops and plastic bangles. I was still wearing vintage but on a much smaller scale.

09. How about 10?
I was actually a very active child so i was more of a tom boy when i was younger and would only wear shorts. Weird right?

10. How would you describe your style in 5 words?
cheap, chic, careless, eclectic and versatile.

11. Are there times you just want to sit at home in your crappiest clothes? If so, what are they?
Of course. I love fashion but when you're at home you still have to be comfortable. I never get out of my pjamas unless i have to so i'm usually in a pair of pj shorts and an oversized fluffy jumper.

12. What is your opinion on vintage?
It's really hard for me to put into words how i feel about vintage. It offers you so much creative freedom and inspiration that it really is a different world of fashion. What other place can offer you decades of styles, trends, designs and history in one small store? Vintage is not a trend, it's a way of living. Vintage is consuming - it's completely addictive and will sweep you off your feet.

13. Where do you find inspiration? What is inspiring you at the moment?
I draw inspiration from all over the place but mainly fashion blogs. At the moment i am loving christiric and her new take on mixing vintage with her modern edgy pieces. She's refreshing and fierce.

14. Finally, what are the 5 things you are lusting after at the moment?
A miu miu leopard coat and patent loafer platforms, JC lita platforms, dsquared bone heels and the perfect fedora hat.

Thank you very much Nicole for your time and answers! I'm sure many people will enjoy the interview as much as I did :)
